Exploring mental health, life tips and tools through a latina lenS

This is a space to slow down, learn, and reset. Here, you’ll find therapist-written reflections on ourselves, our culture, and what we often see in the therapy room—along with mental health wellness tips and practical tools you can begin using right away.
Whether you’re considering therapy, currently in therapy, or simply on a journey of personal growth, these reflections are here to support your awareness, expand your tools, and deepen your understanding—so you can feel more grounded and connected in your everyday life.

Get to Know Your Therapist

Hi! I’m Adriana. If we were meeting in session, I’d probably wave, say hola, and thank you for being here. I would welcome you with a smile, with the hope of creating a space where you feel comfortable showing up exactly as you are—and where sharing feels a little easier.

The therapist–client relationship is unique. I get the privilege of getting to know you deeply, while you may know very little about me. This space is meant to help you get to know me just a bit more.

I grew up in Northern California and am the youngest of four siblings, with a ten-year gap between me and the next oldest. Both of my parents are immigrants—one from Mexico and the other from El Salvador. Spanish is my first language; English came later, once I started school. These experiences shaped not only how I move through the world, but also how I understand family, culture, and identity.

After high school, I moved to Arizona to attend the University of Arizona and ended up staying. I’ve been married for over a decade, and my partner and I have two children. We speak Spanish at home because passing on our language and culture matters deeply to me. I share music, cooking, and dichos with my kids, and I hope they grow up feeling proud of being Latino—knowing that I am proud to be a Latina, too.

When I’m not in session, you’ll usually find me doing everyday life things: running errands, picking up my kids, reading, running, cooking, or working on a craft. I enjoy music and value time with family and friends—it’s how I recharge and stay grounded.

I bring all of this into my work as a therapist: my lived experience, my cultural lens, and my belief in creating a space that feels welcoming, respectful, and human. If you’re considering therapy, I hope this gives you a small sense of who I am and what it might feel like to be across from me.
